The Metro Vancouver Philippine Arts & Culture Exposition Society (MVPACES) is the organizer of the annual Philippine Days Festival, the largest gathering of Filipino Canadians in British Columbia, showcasing the Filipino arts, cuisine, cultural entertainment, and the rich heritage of the Philippines. This 2020 would have been their 15th year of holding the event, which has been officially recognized as one of the major community signature events in the Northshore, and to be the only Filipino event selected by a New York marketing firm to be included in the Top 100 events of Vancouver. With the current condition brought by this pandemic, MVPACES has cancelled the community celebration this year in support of the BC government directive of no gatherings. However, in lieu of the annual festival, they are offering the community a virtual celebration in the form of a digital musical event, entitled: "Tatlumpung Araw ng Himig Pilipino: Isang Pagbubunyi!" (30 Days of Filipino Music: A Celebration). A project spearheaded and conceptualized by MVPACES, in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, and in collaboration with the various Filipino organizations in Canada - to highlight the most iconic national/regional Filipino songs of yesteryears that has captured the hearts and emotions of every Filipino for all generations. This is "PHILIPPINE DAYS 2020" - A 30-DAY MUSICAL JOURNEY featuring various interpretations of FILIPINO SONGS by Filipino Canadians, depicted by singing, a dance number, a skit, painting, poem. The 15-minute broadcast on FB, youtube, and other social media platforms will also include greetings from government officials of Canada and the Philippines, Community leaders from all over Canada, as well as Trivia/History of the iconic songs, and everyday games for the viewing public.
